On Friday, Indian Air Force received it first Apache Attack helicopter at the Boeing production facility in Arizona, US. The deal for the Guardian attack helicopter was made between AIF, the US government and Boeing, back in September last year. The addition of this helicopter would mark a significant modernisation in IAF helicopter fleet and its aerial attack.

AH-64E(I) apache for Indian Air force
Immediately after the ceremony where the helicopter was formally handed, the IAF tweeted, “First AH-64E (I) Apache Guardian helicopter was formally handed over to the IAF at Boeing production facility in Mesa, Arizona, USA on 10 May 19. Air Mshl AS Butola, represented the IAF & accepted the first Apache in a ceremony at Boeing production facility.”

According to the reports, the helicopter is capable of carrying out designed target with precision at standoff ranges and can even operate and carry out attacks in hostile airspace. Explaining how significant is the addition of this helicopter in IAF, they tweeted, “The addition of AH-64 E (I) helicopter is a significant step towards modernisation of IAF’s helicopter fleet. The helicopter has been customised to suit IAF’s future requirements and would have significant capability in mountainous terrain.”

The first batch of helicopter to be shipped in July
The first batch of these guardian attack helicopter will be shipped Indian Air force in July. All the necessary trainings to operate these helicopters is being given to the aircrew and the ground crew at the training facilities of the US army.

This isn’t the first time that the Indian Air force has bought a helicopter from Boeing, US. If remembered correctly, few years back the Indian Air force had made a deal with the Us government and the Boeing for their Chinook transport helicopter. The Chinook is a multi-role helicopter that is used for transporting artillery, fuels and various troops and equipments.
