Republic day gift from Congress Party to PM Modi – A Copy of Constitution

India celebrated its 71st Republic day on January 26th, 2020, and the ceremony was celebrated extravagantly at the Rajpath, New Delhi and at various state capitals. The Chief Guest for this year’s parade was the President of Brazil, Jair Messias Bolsonaro. This ceremony was marked by a number of firsts, such as the PM, Shri. Narendra Modi paying homage to the soldiers killed in the battle, a contingent of women bikers of the paramilitary reserve force, the introduction of India’s anti-satellite weapons system etc.

Another treat for the PM of India on this 71st Republic Day was a special gift from the Congress. It was the ‘copy of the constitution’ along with a note for him stating, to read it when he gets time from parting the nation. This seems to be the response against the CAA- NRC, (Citizenship Amendment Act) proposed by the Prime Minister recently in the Parliament.

Right from the day of the introduction of the act, the opposition party has been posting several tweets at its official Twitter handle, alleging the Government’s decision against the constitution. Apart from dispatching a hard copy of “The Constitution of India” By the Unique world trends publishers to the PM’s office. The Congress also tweeted videos of the Congress President, Ms. Sonia Gandhi, former party chief, Mr. Rahul Gandhi and former Prime Minister, Mr. Manmohan Singh and General Secretary of the Congress party, Priyanka Gandhi reading the preamble of the Constitution of India, from the protest assembly at the Rajghat recently.

The note that read with the dispatch read,” Dear Prime Minister, The Constitution Preamble will be reaching to you soon, please do read it when you get time from dividing the Nation. Regards, Congress”. The Congress party also tweeted along with the snapshot of the dispatch receipt from Amazon that, the copy of the preamble will be dispatched to the Central Secretariat.

In another tweet, Congress also mentioned that. The lesson that the BJP has failed to understand is that all people irrespective of caste, gender and creed are guaranteed equality under article 14 of the Constitution of India. It also added that it is this article 14 that has been completed violated by the Citizenship Amendment Act of the Government.

“All people of the country are protected against discrimination of any form according to the constitution of India, any law that is based on discrimination is unconstitutional”, the party tweeted.

Apart from extending her greetings to the people on the occasion of the Republic day, Priyanka Gandhi also urged people to rise beyond personal prejudices and stay united to protect the Constitution of India and its values. She also claimed that the people of the country are been attacked through a strong conspiracy. The conspiracy to divide people based on religion, language and regionalism.
