Rishi Kapoor, who once was the chocolaty hero of the Bollywood and the man who created a trend of fashionable colourful sweaters passed away this morning but his work in India cinema made him eternal in people’s heart. He was the man full of life and humour, his long and successful career in movies created a niche for him in Indian cinema.
Being born in family of Kapoors, which ruled Bollywood since its initial days, getting a movie break was not so challenging for Rishi Kapoor. He first appeared in Mera Naam Joker as a child for which he received National film award for best child artist. However, his debut as an adult was in Bobby opposite to Dimple Kapadia in 1973. This movie proved a big success for Rishi, audience admired on screen romance so much, the impact was so much that he received best actor award for his first movie. In an interview Rishi told that he was launched in Bobby because his father did not had enough funds to sign Rajesh Khanna. After this, Rishi was starred in many movies with Neetu Singh, like Zehreela Insaan, Rafoo Chakkar, Kabhi Kabhi, Dusra Aadami. While working together, they fell in love with each other and got married in 1980. Rishi Kapoor also did some sensational comedy movies like Amar Akbar Anthony, Khel Khel mein, ham Kisi se Kam Nahin. He was also starred in thriller Karz which became a cult classic, however movie did not turn into great success on box office. Between 1973 and 2000 Rishi was starred in almost 50 movies, most of them were of romantic genre like Raja, Laila Majnu, Sargam, Prem Rog, Coolie, Sagar, Bol Radha Bol, Damini, karobar and many others. These movies earned him image of chocolaty romantic hero.
Later, he moved to direction and character roles. His first work as a director was Aa Ab Laut chalen. After 2000, he acted as a supporting cast in many movies like Hum Tum, Fanaa, Namaste London, Love Aaj Kal, Delhi 6 and Student of the year. In 2011 he played a role of middlemen in movie Do Dooni Chaar for which he received Filmfare critics award for best actor. He also played negative characters with same excellence, his notable work can be seen in movies like Agneepath and D-Day. He had also worked opposite to some very young actresses like in his movie Mulk, where he worked opposite to Taapsee Pannu. He also received an award for best negative character for his work in Agnipath. After a while he returned back on screen in 2018 and appeared in 102 Not Out with Amitabh Bacchan and in a series of Netflix Rajma Chawla. His last movie was The Body in which he was co-starred with Imran Hashmi.

In his whole career he received several awards for his remarkable work. He openly mentioned some other aspects of his life in his book Khullam Khulla. He devoted his entire life to Indian cinema and entertained us for many years, for which he will be remembered forever.
