The popular web series ‘Tandava’ featuring big actors like actor Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Sunil Grover, Tigmanshu Dhulia has been mired in controversy soon after its release. The controversy reached such a level that now the government has to interfere.
The series has been released on the streaming platform Amazon Prime Video. Now, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, taking cognizance of all the complaints, has sought an answer from Amazon Prime on this. #Tandavban has started trending on Twitter soon after the release. People started demanding a ban on series. Let us understand, why this series has caused so much chaos?
What is the issue?
Actually, after watching the web series ‘Tandava’, it has been alleged that it has ridiculed Hindu deities. BJP MP Manoj Kotak said on Sunday that he has written a letter to Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar, requesting him to stop the web series ‘Tandava’ of Amazon Prime Video.

Ministry took cognizance
The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has taken cognizance of complaints of allegedly ridiculing Hindu deities in the web series. The ministry on Sunday issued a notice to streaming platform seeking clarification.
FIR lodged in Lucknow
An FIR has been lodged against 4 people at Hazratganj Kotwali on Tandava web series. These include Aparna Purohit, India head of Amazon Prime and the producer, director, writer of the web series. Lawsuits have been registered in all the suitable sections.
BJP MP raised questions
Questioning the series, BJP MP Manoj Kotak had said that anti-Hindu content is being served continuously in the name of web series, which is urgently required to be banned. He said that films and web series make fun of Hindu Gods and Goddesses, which hurts Hindu sentiments.

The contentious series ‘Tandava’ features Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Sunil Grover, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Dino Morea, Kumud Mishra, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub, Gauhar Khan and Kritika Kamra in the lead roles. Ali Abbas Zafar has directed it while its screenplay is written by Fame Gaurav Solanki.
