The trailer of the film Shershaah, based on the life of Vikram Batra, has been released. The trailer was released by Amazon Prime on the eve of Kargil Vijay Diwas. In this film, Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani are going to be seen in lead roles. The film Shershaah is based on the heroic saga of ParamVir Chakra recipient Captain Vikram Batra in the Kargil War. During the Kargil war, the ‘code name’ of Captain Vikram Batra was Shershaah. Interestingly, the Pakistani army knew Vikram Batra only by the name of Shershaah. Now on August 12, the story of Captain Vikram Batra is going to be showcased in front of the fans.

During the Kargil War, Captain Batra sacrificed his life in capturing the strategic summit point 4875. For this, Captain Batra received Param Vir Chakra Posthumously. Story of Captain Vikram Batra:
Captain Vikram Batra was born on 9 September 1974 in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh. He started his military life on 6 December 1997 with the 13 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles of the Indian Army. The incident is of those days when the Kargil war was going on between the Indian Army and the Pakistani Army personnel disguised as terrorists. As soon as the commando training was over, Lieutenant Vikram Batra was deployed in the Kargil war zone. On June 1, 1999, Lieutenant Vikram Batra with his unit took the front against the enemy army. Captured the Hump and Rock knob peaks by eliminating the enemies.

With the initial deployment, Lieutenant Vikram Batra captured the peaks of the Hump and Rock knob and killed the enemy army. As a reward for the success of Lieutenant Vikram Batra, the Army Headquarters promoted him to Captain. After promotion, Captain Vikram Batra was given the responsibility of hoisting the Indian flag at 5140 point, which was under the enemy’s control, very close to the Srinagar-Leh road. Captain Vikram Batra, showing his amazing fighting skills and bravery, captured this point on the morning of 20 June 1999 at around 3:30 am.

The message sent by Captain Vikram Batra to his senior officers after hoisting the tricolour at 5140 point gave him a new identity in the country. The message was ‘Yeh Dil Maange More’.

After winning point 5140, Captain Vikram Batra was given the mission of hoisting the Indian flag at point 4875. Captain Vikram Batra along with Lt. AnujNayyar and Lt. Naveen along with other comrades set out to achieve their next target.
The face-to-face battle with the Pakistani army present in the guise of terrorists was going on. There was a continuous exchange of bullets from both sides. During this, Lieutenant Naveen was shot in the leg. The enemy started firing continuously targeting Lieutenant Naveen. Captain Vikram Batra ran to save the life of his companion. He was dragging Lieutenant Naveen when an enemy bullet hit him in his chest.
