India Won 7 Medals In Tokyo Olympics; See How Much Money And Other Gifts Each Winner Gets

After a jam-packed action of 15 days, the 32nd Olympics has come to an end. We saw some thrilling performances from the world-class athletes who won with their grit. Similarly, Indian athletes have also shown their tenacious character and made Indiaproud and honour. At the end of the event,the Indian medals tally reached 7.

Although every athlete tried his/her best only a few Indian Olympians clinched medal for Country. These few medal winners are receiving love and fame from the whole country. Besides, love and fame the winners are also being showered with money.

 From the state governments to the Railways, the Indian Olympic Association and some businessmen, praising the performance of the players, have announced cash rewards. Let’s know what our medal winners are getting after making the whole country proud.

‘Golden Boy’ Neeraj Chopra

Neeraj Chopra made us hear Indian National Anthem at the Olympics by bagging gold. He became the second Indian individual Olympian who clinches Gold.The whole country is celebrating this historic win.  Besides, congratulatory regards big rewards are also seen. As soon as he got the gold medal in Javelin, money started raining on him.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar started the series of rewards. After Neeraj’s victory, he announced that this star player will get Rs 6 crore along with a class-1 Job from the Haryana government.

Apart from the Haryana government, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh also celebrated Neeraj’s victory. He announced to give Rs 2 crore. He said that Neeraj has a deep connection with Punjab, so winning his gold is a matter of pride for all Punjabis. Besides, the Manipur government will also give 1 crore to star athletes.

IPL team Chennai Super Kings has also announced to give 1 crore to Neeraj Chopra. Later the BCCI also announced to honour all the players of the Tokyo Olympics. BCCI announced a 1 crore prize for Neeraj.

On the other hand, Indigo has also given a special gift. Free tickets have been announced by the company for a whole year. This special scheme for Neeraj is going to continue from August 8 to August 7 next year. Edtech company Byju’s announced a cash prize of Rs 2 crore to India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra. Meanwhile, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra has announced to gift the Mahindra XUV700 to Neeraj. Rakesh Kapoor, chairman of Gurugram-based realty company Elan Group, on Saturday, announced a Rs 25 lakh cash prize for Neeraj Chopra.

Silver Medalist Mirabai Chanu

 Silver medalist weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, who opened India’s account in Tokyo Olympics, has been awarded 1 crore cash and a post of Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) by the Manipur government. State Chief Minister N Biren Singh has announced this. At the same time, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has also announced a cash prize of Rs 2 crore from the Railways. The Manipur government has announced a grant of Rs 25 lakh to every sportsperson from the state participating in the Olympics.

Ravi Kumar Dahiya

 Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has announced a Class-I government job with a cash prize of Rs 4 crore and plot at concessional rate to wrestler Ravi Dahiya, who won silver in Tokyo Olympics.

Two-time Olympics winner: P.V. Sindhu

 The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a cash grant of Rs 30 lakh to PV Sindhu, who won bronze in Badminton. Apart from this, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has also announced a grant of Rs 25 lakh to Sindhu. Sindhu is the first Indian woman to win a medal in the second consecutive Olympics. Sindhu also won silver in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Bronze girl: Lovlina

 Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain won the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics.  The Assam government has given a big gift of victory to Lovlina, a resident of Golaghat, Assam. The state government has built a 2-kilometre road connecting the main road from her house.  Apart from Lovlina, this gift has become a source of happiness for the people of her village. This road was bad for many years.

Under the Assam Sports Integrated Policy 2017-18, Lovlina is likely to get many rewards after she put Assam on the World sports map. According to the policy, Olympic Bronze medal winners will get a cash reward of Rs 50 lakh and become eligible for direct entry into class 1 Assam Government posts.

Bajrang Punia

As per the policy of the Haryana government, the athlete will receive ₹2.5 crores, a government job, and a plot of land at 50 per cent concession for winning a bronze medal at Tokyo Olympics 2020. An indoor stadium will also be constructed in his native village Khudan in Jhajjar.

Hockey team

Indian hockey players, who won medals after 41 years in Olympic history, have also joined the list of millionaires.  The Punjab government has announced a cash prize of Rs 1 crore each to its 10 players in the team.

 Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has also announced a grant of Rs 1 crore each to his two players, Vivek Sagar and Neelkanta Sharma, who were part of the team. The Manipur government has also announced a government job along with giving Rs 75 lakh in cash to Neelkanta Sharma.

 The Haryana government has also announced Rs 2.5-2.5 crore, jobs in sports department and plots at concessional rate to two sportspersons of the state.  At the same time, the Himachal Pradesh government has announced a cash grant of Rs 75 lakh to one of its players, Varun Kumar.

Railways declared prizes

Railways has also announced to give cash awards to the players and their coaches who won medals in Tokyo Olympics. Railways has announced a grant of Rs 3 crore to the player who won the gold and Rs 25 lakh to his coach. 2 crore will be given to the player who wins silver and 20 lakhs to the coach. The players who win the bronze will be given a reward of Rs 1 crore and the coach will be given a reward of Rs 15 lakh. Apart from this, Rs 7.5 lakh will be given to the players participating in the Olympics.

Indian Olympic Association will also give cash prize

 The Indian Olympic Association has already announced cash prizes for medal winners. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has announced a reward of Rs 75 lakh for winning gold, Rs 40 lakh for winning silver and Rs 25 lakh for winning bronze. 

BCCI joins the club

BCCI announced a prize of 1 crore for Neeraj and 50 lakh each for Mirabai and Ravi Dahiya. BCCI will be awarding 25 lakh each to PV Sindhu, Lovlina Borgohain and Bajrang Punia. Moreover, 1.25 crore will be awarded to Indian Men’s Hockey team.

PM Modi will meet winners on Independence Day

 When Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver his 8th consecutive speech on Independence Day, the Indian Olympic contingent will also be present as a special guest at the Red Fort on August 15.  Prime Minister Modi will also invite them to his residence and talk to them. A contingent of 228 people, including over 120 players, is representing India in the Tokyo Olympics.  PM Modi regularly encourages the team.
