Coronavirus second wave continues to deteriorate the situation in many countries. Yesterday, a record 217353 people have been found infected in the country. This figure is the largest number of infections found in a single day since the onset of infection last year. During this period 1,18,302 people also recovered, while 1185 patients died.The number of active cases in India has also crossed 1.5 million.
The intensity of Corona in the country can be understood by the fact that 15 cities of India are among the top-20 infected cities of the world. Pune is at the top of this list, while Mumbai is at number two.
Worst hit States
On Thursday, Maharashtra recorded the highest number of 61,695 new patients in the country. Uttar Pradesh was at number two. 22,339 people were found infected here. Whereas, 16,699 people were found positive in Delhi and 15,256 in Chhattisgarh. 14,738 people in Karnataka tested positive and in Madhya Pradesh reports of 10,166people came positive.
The situation is getting out of control in Uttar Pradesh. 103 patients lost their lives in the state. Seeing the worsening situation, Sunday lockdown has been imposed in the state.

Board exams postponed
Given the increasing cases of Corona, after the CBSE, the ICSE Board has also deferred the 10th and 12th examinations. Its new dates will be decided in the first week of June. Before this, examinations have been postponed in many states.
Remdesivir
Dr. Reddy’s, the country’s largest pharma company that makes Remdesivir, said that it is currently out of stock. The company is focussing on increasing its production. Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan also said that all the pharma companies producing Remdesivir injection have been asked to increase production. He said that stringent action will be taken against those who found to indulge in hoarding or black marketing the essential drug.
Oxygen crisis in many states
With increasing cases of the corona, the medical oxygen crisis in the states of the country is intensifying. Due to lack of oxygen, people are dying. After a meeting of the Empowered Group of the government,it was decided that 50 thousand metric tons of medical oxygen will be imported from other countries. The acute oxygen shortage is in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, UP, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan.
