On the previous day, COVID report of 54,069 people came positive in the country. During this period, 68,885 people defeated the virus and 1321 people also lost their lives due to infection. Consequently, the number of active cases or patients undergoing treatment decreased by 16,183. Now the active cases in country reduced to 6,27,057.
Active cases are decreasing rapidly in the country. Now there are only 5 states where the number of patients undergoing treatment is more than 50 thousand. These include Maharashtra (1.21 lakh), Karnataka (1.16 lakh), Kerala (99,389), Tamil Nadu (52,884) and Andhra Pradesh (51,204).
Corona updates:
- However, amidst the decreasing cases of corona in the country, the Delta variant responsible for the second wave in the country is once again attacking by mutating. It has been named Delta Plus. Experts believe that the Delta Plus variant can cause the third wave of corona in the country.
- According to the central government, so far 40 cases of this strain have been recorded in the country. The highest number of cases of this variant have been reported in Maharashtra. Apart from this, this strain has also been confirmed in Madhya Pradesh and Kerala. These states have been advised to be on alert.

- Over 2,000 people received fake vaccinations at different camps across Kandivali, Borivali, Khar, Versova and Parel, Mumbai police told the Bombay High Court on Thursday. Four FIRs have been registered so far and the statements of 400 witnesses have been recorded.
- Complete lockdownlike restrictions are in place in 10 states of the country. These include West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Mizoram, Goa and Puducherry.
