In a recent political upheaval, Kiran Bedi has been removed from the post of Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. According to the sources, there are three reasons behind this. The biggest reason is the upcoming assembly elections, due to which this decision has been taken.
The Congress government in Puducherry has been demanding the removal of Kiran Bedi by accusing her of running parallel government and interference in the daily work of the elected government. Congress could have made Kiran Bedi an issue in the upcoming assembly elections.
Another problem before BJP was its ally AINRC, which was not happy with Kiran Bedi. BJP, AINRC and AIADM will have an alliance in the upcoming elections and Kiran Bedi was also removed to take the ally into confidence. She was dismissed rather than transferred. This was done to send a message to the people of Puducherry that the party was not happy with her.
Third, there is a possibility that after the Narayanasamy government comes in a minority, the central government should interfere there. There is also a possibility of imposing President’s rule by dissolving the assembly. In such a situation, it would not appropriate to hold elections under the leadership of Kiran Bedi. Especially when the Congress impose so many allegations on her.
Her message
In the morning Kiran Bedi has thanked the people of Puducherry who worked with her. She tweeted and said, “Thank you to all those who were part of my journey as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. Thanks to the people and government officials of Puducherry.”
