Tokyo Olympics, which has postponed due to this coronavirus outbreak, now it is held from July 23 to August 8 next year. This new date of Tokyo Olympic has been decided between the International Olympic Committee and local organizers. And the Paralympics games will begin from August 24, 2021, till September 2021. Yashiro Mori, the president of Tokyo, has warned the international federation that deciding who will cover the additional cost arising from the delaying and postponement of the Olympic Games, will be a major challenge. After IOC president, Thomas Bach had a telephonic conversation with the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, he made the announcement of postponing of the global event.
Before this Coronavirus Epidemic, the Tokyo Olympic Games were going to be held from 24rth July to 9th August, while the Paralympic Games were slated to be held from 25 August to 6 September. But when this virus started spreading all over the world, the IOC and the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympics and Paralympic Games (Tokyo 2020) announced the postponing of the Game on 24rth March, and revealed on Twitter. In 124 years, this is the time when the Summer Olympics has postponed.
ANI quoted Shinzo Abe’s Office and said: “After his telephone talks with International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe spoke to the press and explained that the two have agreed that the Tokyo Olympic Games would not be canceled and the games will be held by the summer of 2021.”
In 31 editions since the first modern Olympic s 1896, it had never been postponed but due to war, they were canceled in the year 1916 and 1944.
